Behaviour & Attendance

Update: 19th April 2010

TIME  OUT PROJECT:

Cluster 3 works in partnership with Groundwork, Stoke-on-Trent to provide 6th day provision and preventative work for pupils from all Cluster 3 schools.

The Time Out project is delivered at Queensberry Youth Centre and operates daily during school term.  As the project was incorporated into the Inspiring Communities project “Big Up Your Future” we have been able to expand the provision on offer.

a. A re-integration worker (Julie Davis) will work with needs of pupils.  Julie starts on 19th April.  Julie will be able to go into the school prior to exclusion, link to the family and help with re-integration after pupils have left Time Out. Julie’s background is transition covering  general transition issues in life and this broad experience will help her in the new role.

b. Time Out 2 has been introduced where Groundwork staff with a broad range of skills will help deliver the wider Time Out programme. This will enable a link between new curriculum offer, core curriculum in school and requirements under the new OFSTED inspection.

c. The Time Out allotment: With funding from Inspiring Communities and support from Groundwork’s central team, the project has accessed a fabulous allotment.  The allotment will be a chance to provide outdoor education, maths, English, science and the development of a community spirit.  Sessions will be for 4-6 young people at a time.  The site was a derelict site and Groundwork received funding from ward councillors for clearing the land and purchase of equipment. There is a possibility to do construction activity through Groundwork’s new Burslem centre. Pupils will have the chance to link to what they grow to cooking and eating food. Links to Family Learning ‘Grow your own grub’ are a possibility also.
