Participatory Budget:

July 2010: Our pupils impressed the Dragon’s so well that they awarded them the following projects:

St Thomas More: £10,000 to develop sports activities and encourage a healthier  lifestyle

Sandon/Longton (now all one school):  They were very successful and got the runner up prize as well as a first prize of £10,000.  They will develop two projects:  A DVD on anti-social behaviour and a series of workshops on discouraging younger pupils from taking part n drugs, drink and smoking.

Edensor High: They won £10,000 from the Dragon’s to further develop their MAC place and bring in other agencies.

Julia Barraclough from Groundwork is busy working with the pupils on developing and delivering  their plans.

Pupils from Sandon, Longton, St Thomas More, Aynsley and Edensor are being asked to think about possible projects for their school and local community. The funding from the Participatory Budget will be £34,000 shared across the schools.

Within school pupils can decide what projects they will take forward to a Dragon’s Den event to be held in May at Longton Town Hall. Funded projects will start delivery in September 2010.
